Imphal: Manipur Police has refuted the comment of PC Nair (Retd) Lt. Gen Assam Rifles statement “There is no Manipur Police There is Meitei Police, Kuki Police” on a national TV interview.
“It is unfortunate that he commented in that way. We condemn it,” IGP (Operations) IK Muivah said in a press briefing, here on Tuesday.
“It was misleading, misguiding, poorly judged and it shows lack of understanding.”
He said there are drones and it was dropping bombs, officers from Manipur Police, who were on duty on September 1 at Koutruk in Imphal West has seen it, and recovered some bombs, which are manufactured precisely.
“We have a drone recovered from nearby area.”
The sebiour police officer said the Pompi used (by Kuki militants) is modified and improved to attack long distances as rockets and mortars.
He said there are reports of student protest in Imphal, Thoubal and nearby surrounding areas. Yesterday (Monday) some places miscreants have instigated to make it n to violent protest. Police has used some force and controlled it. “We request, fervently appeal all that, please don’t take Law in hands and instigate violence. We request public and students to ensure that whenever they go for peaceful rally or sit in protest, not to allow any instigators in their group.”
The state police department warns instigators in social media and in ground that strict action will be taken against them.
