Imphal: Manipur government has asked the farmers of Manipur who were unable to cultivate Kharif paddy for the year 2024 due to the ongoing crisis in the state to apply for financial assistance by submitting their applications online.

Manipur has been witnessing Meitei-Kuki conflict affecting all walks of life since May 3 last year. Farmers were unable to cultivate due to firing towards paddy fields.

Farmers have to visit the website https://farmercompensation.in to apply for the government assistance.

To ensure ease of application, the Government of Manipur has developed an application through which the farmers can apply online using a smart phone or a computer. The farmer must apply through their mobile number registered/linked with their Aadhaar number, the government notification issued on Friday said.

The farmers were advised to upload either photos of their affected areas( if available/accessible) or google map photo( if the area is inaccessible).

At any point of time after submission of the application, the farmer will be able to know the status of their application on the website. After due verification at the SDO, DC, and Directorate of Agriculture level, the verified farmers will be compensated as per their affected areas through Direct Benefit Transfer as and when fund is made available by the Home department, the notification said.

The amount of compensation will be requisitioned from the ministry of Home Affairs, , through the Home department. Once the funds are approved and released by the Government of India, the farmers will be compensated, it added.

Also, farmers may view the relevant videos attached to the portal for ease of applying.

The last date for submission of applications is October 15, 2024. Applications received after this date will not be entertained, said the notification.

The required documents consist of Aadhaar Card, Bank Passbook and Land documents (patta, in case of surveyed land or DC issued land document in case of un-surveyed land/ khas land).
