Kuki militant involved in Sapermeina bridge bombing, attack at IOCL convoy in Tamenglong of Manipur arrested

Imphal: A team of STF, Assam has arrested self-styled Finance secretary of UKNA (United Kuki National Army) in connection with the bombing of a bridge at Sapermeina and attacking at IOCL convoy in Tamenglong of Manipur.

The arrested person was identified as LS Yosef Chongloi, 34, of Churachandpur.

The STF team arrested Chongloi in a search operation ‘based on secret information and the direction of IGP (STF)’ operated at the Beltola area under Basistha PS, Guwahati on Friday evening.

He was ‘suspected to be involved in various sabotage activities covering Manipur and bordering areas of Assam and includes recent bomb blast that destroyed Sapermaina bridge at NH-2 and the armed attack at an IOCL convoy at Tamenglong in Manipur’.

The investigation is on, said STF.
