Imphal: Manipur government has extended suspension of internet and mobile data except those permitted for whitelisting with effect from Sunday 3 pm in Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Kakching and Bishnupur districts in view of the prevailing chaos over demand to handover Unified Command authority to Manipur government.
The suspended services included Lease Lines, VSATs, Broadbands and VPN services.
The state Home department issued the internet suspension order on Sunday.
It said, after reviewing the prevailing law and order situation and its possible co-relation with the general operation of internet suspension in the last fortnight, decided to continue suspension of internet and mobile data services.
The suspension of internet was imposed under the power conferred as per Rule 2 of Temporary Suspension of Telecom Services (Public Emergency or Public Safety) Rules, 2017.
All Mobile Service providers have been directed to ensure compliance of this order.
The Home department appealed to refrain from activities which may cause situations, which will warrant for suspension of internet services in future.
