Imphal: Indefinite Curfew has been imposed in Imphal and Thoubal district to control rising tension with students demanding to give power to Manipur government to fight Kuki terrorist agressors.
Students and people in Manipur valley has been agitating day and night demanding to empower the federal structure to fight terrorism following agressive Kuki Narco-Terrorists attacks on Meitei community weaponising drones and launching missiles.
Students who have been wating for the India government to declare transfer of Unified Command authority to Manipur government in 24 hours since Monday has continued to fulfil their demand as assured by governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya.
The indefinite curfew will be made effective from 11am of Tuesday, said an order issued by Imphal West district magistrate.
At least 9 people were killed in the last 10 days in different attacks.
Ima Keithel vendors have been shut down their business to join the agitating students.
Shops and business establishments have been shut down to support the people’s uprising.
State government had declared closure of schools for two more days till Tuesday after it declared closure of schools on Saturday.
