Imphal: Chief secretary of Manipur, Dr Vineet Joshi along the commissioner, Home, N. Ashok Kumar on Monday visited the Indo-Myanmar Border town Moreh and took stock of public life and civic administration.
In the Meitei-Kuki conflict, homes and constructions belongings to Meitei people were dismantled by Kuki. Meitei fled to relief camps and to homes of relatives in the valley.
During the visit, Dr Joshi chaired a meeting at a shopping complex along with the deputy commissioner of Tengnoupal, Krishna Kumar, SP Rahul Gupta, CO 5 AR Rahul Jain and other officials.
Leaders of various civil society organizations in Moreh including Kuki Innpi Tengnoupal, Hill Tribal Council, KSO, KWU & HR, Tamil Sangam, Gorkha Samaj, Hindustani Samaj, BTCC and MMCM took part in the meeting.
While receiving the memorandums from the CSO leaders, the chief secretary also held discussions on the prevailing situations of the border town and the concerns of the general public.
The chief secretary and the commissioner also visited Integrated Check Post Moreh, and inspected the various facilities in the complex.
They also visited the relief camps at Moreh Higher Secondary School and KLP Moreh. Presenting gifts to the inmates, he assured their concerns and promised to take care of them with unending support from the government.
