Private college Principal’s residents attacked

Imphal: Resident of a private college principal was attacked with several rounds of gun shots on Tuesday evening, none was injured.

According to a CCTV footage, the incident occurred at approximately 5:02 pm at the residence of Wahengbam Nimai, Lairenjam Awang Leikai under the jurisdiction of Nambol police station.

Nimai is the principal of a private college, Kamakhya Pemton College, established at Hiyangthang, Imphal.

Police said as per the CCTV footage, two unknown miscreants wearing masks came on a two-wheeler and fired several rounds at Nimai’s residence. At the time of the incident, his son was studying inside. He could have been injured if the bullets had entered the house.

Around five empty pistol casings were recovered. Some property of the house have been damaged.

Police have registered a case.

On July 17, unknown miscreants placed a bomb at Nimai’s residence. Police said the threat might be related to extortion.
