Imphal: Chief minister N. Biren Singh, on the floor of Manipur Assembly, clarified that Mizoram chief minister Lalduhawa is not the interlocutor for the ongoing Manipur crisis.
It was misquoted, unfounded and mere speculation, Biren said.
He said during his participation in a NITI Aayog meeting held in New Delhi on July 28, he met all the chief ministers of different states across the country. During the meeting, he had a conversation with almost all the chief ministers of the North East, including the CM of Mizoram, Lalduhawa; the CM of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio; the CM of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma; and others.
Biren said as Lalduhawa is the newly appointed CM of Mizoram, he simply invited him to visit Manipur for just a cup of tea.
If Lalduhawa was to be appointed as the interlocutor for the Manipur Violence, it would have to be done at the level of the Union Home minister or the Prime Minister’s Office.
As quoted in national media, Mizoram CM Lalduhawa, revealed o Thursday that Manipur CM Biren had recently asked him to mediate in talks with organizations representing Kuki-Zo communities.
