Imphal: Demanding to consider Meitei as Scheduled Tribe and discard Kuki from the Scheduled Tribe list, and responding to the Kuki-Zo agitation against Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh, a counter cease work strike was imposed in the valley districts by a civil society organisation, Meitei Leima.
The cease work strike in Manipur’s valley districts brought daily life to a standstill, affecting businesses, schools, and institutions across the region.
Khwairamband Ima Keithel and other markets, shops, schools and institutions remained closed. Attendance in offices was also reportedly thin.
Volume of vehicles plying on the roads were also reduced.
As there were no sign of any protestors, the strike in the valley districts has remained largely peaceful with no reports of untoward incidents.
Media persons could not get in touch with the members of Meitei Leima who called the strike in valley districts.
