Imphal: A meeting on “Jal Shakti Abhiyan-Catch the Rain 2024” (JSA-CTR-2024), organised by the deputy commissioner, Imphal West, was held on Thursday at Kombirei Hall, at Imphal West DC office complete, here.
Sureshwar Singh Bonal, director, ministry of Heavy Industries and Dr. M. Panneer Scientist -D and technical officer, JSA: CTR-2024 were the ministerial team visiting the state to access, monitor and progress made in various water conservation measures.
Sureshwar said urbanisation has escalated the challenges of water scarcity faced in many major cities like Delhi, Mumbai etc.
As Imphal is on its way to become city soon, more aspects are needed to taken up in terms of water bodies conservation plans for future generation. So, under the JSA-CTR-2024 scheme initiated by the ministry, he appealed the general public for cooperation to make it successful.
Deputy commissioner, Imphal West, Th. Kirankumar Singh mentioned that departments such as Social Welfare and Education should play a major role in promoting and implementing this scheme. He directed all the concerned departmental officials to cooperate and seek advices from the visiting experts.
Officials present in the meeting were CEO, Imphal West Zilla Parishad; DFO, Central Division; Chief Town Planner, Manipur; EE, Minor Irrigation; EE Water Resources; EE, PHED; all SDOs of Imphal West; all BDOs of Imphal West; ZEO (Zone-1 and Wangoi); DPO & CDPOs of Imphal West; APO, DRDA Imphal West etc.
