Imphal: A resident of Khumujamba Meitei Leikai, presently taking shelter at an internally displaced persons’ camp in Phubala, Bishnupur district, lodged a zero FIR against some Kuki miscreants, the deputy commissioner and superintendent of police, Churachandpur, on Tuesday.
The zero FIR was lodged at Imphal Police station, by Naorem Ibomcha Meitei, 43, son of N. Kalachand Singh, who was displaced due to Kuki attack to Meitei on May 3 last year.
Ibomcha complained that, “On 21/07/2024, I came across a viral video on social media showing my four-storey building located at Khumujamba Meitei Leikai, P.O & P.S. Churachandpur, District Churachandpur being demolished by Kuki miscreants using high-intensity explosive substances. This occurred just one kilometre from the Churachandpur Police station and two and a half kilometres from the office of the Superintendent of Police, Churachandpur.”
“The viral video shows the four-storey building being demolished surgically with high explosives wrapped around the pillars, indicating the involvement of individuals highly trained in specialized demolition activities. In the viral video, some voices are heard speaking in the Paite tribe’s dialect, and I could recognize the voice of one Gillajem alias Junior Jemz, 27, son of Donglemthang Vaiphei, a resident of Bewlaland, P.O. & P.S. Churachandpur, District-Churachandpur, Manipur,” it added.
Ibomcha stated that Gillajem’s house is located just a short distance from his own house. In the aforesaid viral video, a masked man was seen demolishing his house while Gillajem was recording the entire episode.
“The video of the demolition of my four-storey building was posted by a Facebook page called ‘ZOMI NEWS FLASH’ and was forwarded and transmitted to WhatsApp from mobile number +918413851755,” it added.
The Supreme Court, in the case of Special Leave Petition (Civil) Diary No. 19206 of 2023, had passed an order on August 7, 2023, directing “the Union Government and the State of Manipur to make sufficient arrangements to ensure the protection of lives and properties of all the citizens and residents of the State of Manipur”.
“Despite the Supreme Court order, both the Deputy Commissioner (DC) and the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Churachandpur did not take any action to protect my properties, including my four-storey building,” Ibomcha complained.
He appealed to take up necessary legal action under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against Gillajem, the other miscreants involved in the crime, the DC and SP of Churachandpur at the earliest in the interest of natural justice.
