Imphal: Manipur government has declared Friday as Public Holiday in wake of the ‘prevailing situation’ in Manipur.
Manipur has been facing heavy rainfall and flood since Monday.
An order issued on Thursday stated that in continuation of this government orders declaring Wednesday and Thursday as Public Holidays, and ‘taking into account the prevailing situation’, ceteris paribus, the governor of Manipur is further pleased to declare Friday as a Public Holiday for all government offices including public sector undertakings, corporations, autonomous bodies and societies under the Government of Manipur.
All banks, financial institutions and LIC, etc., located in the state shall also remain closed on this day.
The state government appealed the general public to stay indoors and not to move out except for emergency so that the authorities can carry out the rescue and relief works smoothly.
The departments involved in rescue and relief operation and essential services namely, Home, Police, Fire Services, District Administration, Relief and Disaster Management, Power, Health and Family Welfare, PHE, Water Resources, PWD, GAD, CAF and PD, MI, Forests, LDA, etc., were excluded from the holiday.
Officers and employees of all the other departments will also be available on phone call for any eventuality, the order said.
