Imphal: The Manipur Cabinet on Friday at the chief minister’s secretariat here, decided to convene Manipur Legislative Assembly on July 31.

This was told to reporters by Information and Public Relation minister Sapam Ranjan at his Lamphel residence, here.

The previous sitting of Manipur Legislative Assembly was adjourned sine die on March 5.  The cabinet took the decision to convene the next session.

Responding to media, the minister said the number of sitting for the session will be decided by the Business Advisory Committee of Manipur Legislative Assembly.

The cabinet meeting ddressed 43 listed agendas and 2-3 unlisted agendas.

The minister said among the agendas some of the agendas were deferred for further discussion. He did not mention how many agendas were deffered.

Ranjan said the state cabinet has resolved to direct Manipur Home department for bifurcation of manpower particularly for ministerial staff for the newly created districts of Manipur. It also directed the same department for introducing transfer and posting of village defence force (VDF) personnel across the state.

Minister Ranjan said, to encourage the students, the state cabinet has approved for framing of “The Manipur Private School (Registration and Regulation) Rules, 2024”.

In higher education the cabinet also approved for amendment of Dhanamanjuri Act and adoption of NPS( national pension system) for employees of Dhanamanjuri University.

Regarding Land Reform department, the state cabinet has approved for allotment of land in favour of the district and Session Judge, Churachandpur district for construction of Court Complex of district and session Churachandpur.

It also approved for allotment of land for construction of AYUSH dispensary inside Imphal Airport campus and at 17 Chaobok village, Lilong sub-division, Thoubal district.

In the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, some irregularities were detected during an earlier recruitment process. The cabinet directed the concerned department to investigate the matter in order to find out any irregularities, said.

The whole recruitment process will be withdrawn if any irregularities were found during the investigation, he added.

The state cabinet also approved for e-auction of fancy registration numbers of vehicles during registration in VAHAN portal.
