Imphal: Khwairamband Keithel Sinpham Amadi Saktam Kanba Lup (a women vendors group) handed over relief materials for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Jiribam district on Sunday.
The relief materials included clothing, eatables, and other items. They were handed over through the district council of the Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), Jiribam.
Hundreds of IDPs displaced from Borobekra sub-division, Lamtai Khunou, Madhupur, Harinagar, Buthngkhal, Narayanpur, and Goakhal, have been taking shelter at Borobekra relief camp.
Tension escalated in Jiribam, after a man was found killed by unknown miscreants on June 6.
A 43-year-old CRPF jawan was also killed during an ambush by armed miscreants suspected to be Kuki militants on July 14. Additionally, during the ambush, two Manipur police commandos and another CRPF jawan sustained bullet injuries.
