Imphal: INDIA Bloc, Manipur lambasted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech in Rajya Sabha with sharp reactions accusing the Prime Minister of India as ill informed.
Manipur CLP leader Okram Ibobi Singh expressed serious doubt about the factual validity of eleven thousand FIRs mentioned by the Prime Minister of India.
Filing of FIRs alone cannot not be held as a yardsticks of the government efforts in bringing peace and normalcy in the state, Ibobi said.
It is suspicious that many among those eleven thousand FIRs were simply initiated by internally displaced people whose houses have been burnt down during the course of riot, he added.
How can schools and colleges function as the PM said as a mark of returning normalcy in the state? Ibobi questioned stating that more that sixty thousand people are still languishing in the relief camps.
“People are confused if the state government still exists to control law and order in the state,” said Ibobi.
The Prime Minister mentioned about dialogue between state government, centre government and stakeholders. It was also not clear that whether they are talking through phone or through the chief minister,” he added.
CPI leader L. Shotinkumar said the speech of Modi was too late saying it is high time he should visit the state as he can find time to visit Assam twice.
Sotinkumar accused PM that he don’t want political solution, but want to let Manipur crisis continue and destroy the state.
He claimed that taking off all CM’s power and exclusion of chief minister N.Biren Singh in a meeting with Home minister Amit Shah, shows that article 355 implemented in Manipur.
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee president K. Meghachandra said Modi statement is totally out touch with ground realities.
Both Ibobi Singh and Meghachandra said Modi’s version “ten times President Rule” in the past has nothing to do with the present crisis.
