Imphal: A total number of 81 Dengue cases have been confirmed out of which 29 cases belonged to Imphal West, 20 to Imphal East, 13 to Thoubal, nine to Bishnupur, three to Chandel, one to Ukhrul, five to Kakching and one case to Kangpokpi.
This was said by Health and Family Welfare and IPR minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh on Tuesday while talking to reporters at State Health Society, National Health Mission, Lamphelpat, here.
Community and individual participation are necessary to fight against Dengue, the minister said.
Awareness campaign will also enhance the campaign to control Dengue, he added.
He said the government takes the responsibility to control the spread of Dengue. “We all need to accept that it is the responsibility of all of us to spread awareness on how to control Dengue.”
The Health department in association with other departments has been taking up possible measures to contain Dengue.
Steps like fogging is also taken up at places where Dengue positive cases were found. Resource reduction measures have also been taken up with the help of ASHA workers and Helpers under the supervision of the State Malaria department.
He continued that awareness programs have also been being organized at various levels including the Press, Electronic Media and Social Media campaign.
Overhead tanks, ground water storage tanks and septic tanks etc. are breeding spots of the aedes mosquito, the Health minister said.
He suggested to check stagnant water and water containers in and around our residences. Stagnant water is breeding spot of the mosquito that spreads Dengue, he added.
Director, Health Services Manipur, Dr. O. Sanahanbi Devi, State Mission director, Dr. M. Dinesh Singh and staff of Health department, NHM Manipur, State Malaria department also attended the event.
