Imphal: After a bus carrying CRPF personnel was torched by an irate mob at Kangpokpi bazaar on Monday evening, another truck allegedly to belong to the Meitei, was torched at Kangpokpi town at around 11:30 pm on Wednesday.
The incident occurred after Union Home minister Amit Shah issued a directive to take strict action as per law against the perpetrators of violence.
According to police the truck was burnt by unknown miscreants who alleged that the registration number of the vehicle indicated that it belonged to the Meitei community. The police also reported that one passenger vehicle (Tata Winger) was detained by the mob. Due to the timely intervention of the district police, the vehicle was not burnt.
