Imphal: Manipur recorded highest pass percentage of 93.03 despite of the over a year long Meitei-Kuki conflict in the state,
The Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BOSEM) declared the results for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) exam 2024 on Monday.
The pass percentages were 76 percent in 2022 and 82.82 percent in 2023.
In a move to reduce stress and competition among students, the Board introduced a new grading system. Grades from A1 to E2 were awarded instead of marks, with no total or aggregate marks displayed. Students were not ranked, and only the qualified status was printed.
This year, 37,547 students appeared for the examination, with 18,995 male and 18,552 female candidates. The exams were conducted during March 15 to April 3.
Government schools achieved a pass percentage of 84.34 and the aided schools a pass percentage of 92.74. Private schools achieved the highest success rate, with 27,202 students and a pass percentage of 95.93 percent.
Commissioner of Education (S), H. Gyan Prakash informed that the marking system was replaced with a grading system to enhance students’ overall performance while minimizing undue pressure and stress.
“The decision was taken to reduce the heavy competition among students and to ease the stress and burden on them.”
