Imphal: Lecturers of Manipur government higher secondary schools, on Thursday, took out a protest rally in front of the chief minister’s bungalow, here, demanding authorities to immediately clear 13 months due pay of 603 lecturers.
The protestors later on staged a sit-in rally in front of Nupi Lan Memorial complex and Education (S) office in Lamphel, here.
Representatives tried to meet the chief minister and the director of education, but failed.
The protestors held placards decrying the government’s treatment to the teachers.
Talking to reporters, a protestor condemned the government’s neglect in addressing the issue and cautioned that the agitation would continue unill the demand is made.
“Our lives are seriously affected. We too have families,” she said.
She said the teachers’ grievances are completely neglected by the authority.
