Imphal: Former minister Kh. Ratankumar of Congress said the visit of Union Home minister Amit Shah to Imphal after 11 months despite his promise to return in 15 days of his last visit was to defame Congress with false narratives and to blame Congress for the for their failure.
Ratankumar was addressing reporters at Manipur PCC office, here on Monday.
Manipur is still burning and people have been demanding to suspend election until peace and normalcy is restored. However, being Manipur as a part of the democratic country India, the poll of Lok Sabha election was scheduled amid the ongoing crisis in Manipur, he said.
The Lok Sabha polls in Manipur was scheduled on April 19 for first phase and April 26 for the next.
Amit Shah tried to blame the Congress party for their whole failure, Rartankumar said.
Shah assured that people of Manipur that peace will be restored. He repeated the assurance after 11 months of his last visit, he added.
Meanwhile, two persons were killed in a fresh gunfight on Saturday morning in the border area of Kangpokpi and Imphal East district. Following the incident, gunfights were reported in some other peripheral areas of Imphal West, Bishnupur district, Kangpokpi district and others.
Working president of Manipur PCC, Kh. Devabrata condemned the allegation made by Union Home minister stating that Congress is a ‘Tukre Tukre’ party. He claimed that BJP is notorious on blaming Congress party for their failure.
He said Amit Shah claimed all the opposition parties as ‘Tukre Tukre’ gang who can point out the defects of BJP and who can voice against the BJP government for the welfare of people.
Shah claimed that ILP has been implemented after knowing the situation of Manipur on influx of illegal migrants. The ILP implemented in Manipur is not functional, the Congress leader said.
He said a website has been created for the functioning of ILP however, with the improper functioning of ILP system no records can be traced for any person who enter Manipur through ILP.
Congress strongly condemns for recalling the conflict of Naga-Kuki, Meitei-Pangal, Kuki-Paite and others in order to get political mileage with an intention to blame Congress, he added.
A sum of Rs 30.96 crore was sanctioned in 2013 for completion of border fencing work of 10 kilometre in which BJP is claiming that the BJP government has completed the pending border fencing work. Detail Project Report of 1643 kilometre of Indo-Myanmar was already sent to the central government by the then Director General of Assam Rifles. But BJP is claiming that the border fencing is initiated to control the illegal immigrants influx after considering the crisis of Manipur, he said.
Devabrata said BJP cheated the people of north eastern states and Manipur to defame Manipur and to get political mileage taking the advantage of the present crisis.
Youth and women has welcomed the Union Home minister with protest and BJP should be ashamed of, he said.
