4 drug smugglers nabbed with Rs 2.6 crore Heroin

Imphal: Manipur Police have arrested four accused persons for illicit trafficking of suspected heroin powder contained in 139 soap caps weighing about approximately 1.8 kg from Tera Urak Crossing, Bishnupur district under

Bishnupur Police station, said Manipur Police Control Room on Monday.

The arrested persons were identified as Md. Sahidur, 28, son of Md Ithem of Kwakta ward no 4, Bishnupur district; Md Samir Khan (age not mentioned) son of Md Nijir Khan of Kwakta ward no. 4, Bishnupur district; Md Imtiyas Khan, 18, son of Md Tamijur Rahaman of Hayel Labuk Mayai, Thoubal district; Md Nasir, 19, son of Md Shamsuruddin of Kwakta ward no. 6 Bishnupur district.

The seized contraband is valued at around Rs 2.6 crore in the international market. A case has been registered for further investigation, the police control room said.

A combined team of security forces and Forest department carried out poppy destruction of about 30 acres of poppy plantation at Mullam and Shongphel hill ranges under Litan Police station.
