Imphal: Amid heavy conflict between Kuki terrorists and security forces two IEDs were recovered from Indo-Myanmar border town Moreh in Tengnoupal district of Manipur on Friday.
The bombs which approximately weighed 4.7 kg were recovered with 30-meter flexible wire yellow and black), 38-meter flexible wire (blue and white), 41-meter flexible wire (red and blue), 3-meter flexible wire (green) and 3-meter flexible (red and white).
One local made IED bomb weighing about 2.7 kg was also recovered on the same day from Imphal East. One SMC carbine with magazine containing three live rounds, three 36 HE hand grenades without detonators, one 9 mm pistol with empty magazine and 10 live rounds of AK rifle were also recovered from the district.
The recoveries were made during search operations and area domination conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Thoubal, Tengnoupal, Churachandpur, Bishnupur and Imphal East districts.
During the last 24 hours, the situation in the state was tense but under control with sporadic firing and congregation of protestors, Manipur Police Control Room said on Friday.
A joint security forces launched extensive search operations spanning from Shijang village to the Dampi Hill Ridge on the Churachandpur side, and concurrently, another team covered the Haotak Phailen area up to the Dampi
Hill Ridge on the Bishnupur side. The security forces are diligently working to locate and recover the missing person and flush out the armed miscreants from the region, it said.
On Thursday security force arrested one cadre of KYKL from the general area of Z- Choro near Indo -Myanmar Border, under Chassad Police station, Kamjong district. A case has been registered for further investigation, it added.
On the same day, official of MSPCL lodged a written complaint regarding incidents of theft and burglary at Heavy Fuel Based Power Plant (HEBPP) and Hydro Power Plant House Leimakhong, MSPDCL, Manipur. “The perpetrators had also caused spillage of heavy oil, leading to an unceasing release of oil into the nearby river which has posed a significant threat to the public water supply by contaminating the river water and creating a hazardous environmental situation. A Zero FIR has been registered at Sekmai PS and security forces are making all efforts to identify and arrest the accused persons.”
