Saknairabasingi Liklu Pareng—Art exhibition underway

Imphal: Thoithoiba Mayanglambam’s solo Art exhibition “Saknairabasingi Liklu Pareng” was launched at Imphal Art College, on Friday.

The exhibition will continue till Sunday.

Art is an effective and useful tool for mental health. “It improves the quality of life and it helps us understand our world. It is an essential part of our culture as art helps us understand our emotions and sensations deeper,” governor Anusuiya Uikey said.

Like language, art is also a form of expression. Its message may be symbolic or religious, historical or political. The purpose of art is not just to transmit a message, but more importantly, to elicit an emotional response, she added.

Uikey said painting always has a special place in human life. The artist does not look at happiness, sorrow, crisis, success and failure with ordinary eyes. His vision penetrates the essence of things, finds many forms in one and shows them as they are.

On the present day crisis, the governor said, “Unfortunately, our state is currently going through a period of unrest. This situation is sad for all of us.”

She appealed the people to cooperate in bringing a normal and peaceful life with collective efforts so that the tradition of peaceful co-existence can be maintained.

The governor reiterated that she is in touch with the central leaders and efforts are being made to restore normalcy and peace so that all Internally Displaced People can return to their respective places as before. She asked the artists to reach out to the children in relief camps.
