Imphal: The 10th Governor Rally (Rajya Puraskar Distribution Ceremony) of the Manipur State Bharat Scouts and Guides, was held at the Darbar Hall of Raj Bhavan, here on Thursday.
The objective of Scouts and Guides is to develop good human qualities to the students. The aim is to create cultured citizens, to develop leadership abilities and ensure participation in nation building, Governor Anusuiya Uikey said.
The mission of Scouting is to contribute to the education of young people, through a value system based on the Scout Promise and Law to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society. It is a matter of great satisfaction to know that Scouts and Guides is playing an active and important role in character building of the youth in Manipur and contributing in strengthening harmony, brotherhood and secularism, she added.
Besides this, Manipur Scouts and Guides has carried out many activities in the State including Swachh Bharat Mission, advance courses for Scout Masters and Guides and various training courses outside the state. Unfortunately, Manipur is going through a period of unrest due to the ethnic conflict that broke out on May 3. According to their objectives, Scout and Guides can help in establishing peace, harmony and brotherhood in the society, the governor said.
The governor appealed all to join hands together in the efforts to resolve this issue peacefully and amicably.
As chief patron, the governor distributed state awards to 33 Scouts and Guides and handed over Asia Pacific Leadership Awards to two state commissioner Guides, L. Lakshmi Devi and Ksh Phajaton Devi.
Education minister Th. Basanta Kumar Singh, MLA Janghemlung Panmei and M. Shushilkumar Singh, state chief ommissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides attended among others in the ceremony.
