Imphal: Unlike the first two days of students agitation in Imphal, agitation ended peacefully with no confrontation on Thursday and peopie appreciates Imphal West police superintendent Dr. S. Ibomcha for his nature of dealing the angry youths who have been demanding justice to the murder of two students allegedly by Kuki militants.
On Tuesday agitation over 60 students and on the next day about 125 students were injured in security forces action in dispersing the student demonstrators. Of the 125 students two were severely injured.
The students were angry to the security forces for firing tear gas shells, mock bombs and even ‘bullets’ towards them while marching peace rally Imphal.
Thursday appeared a peaceful day amid students demonstrations.
The senior police officer was seen distributing water to students and guiding them against creating violence during the agitation.
“Sir Ibomcha is a man of heart. We thank him for guiding and helping us to maintain a peaceful rally,” a student said.
This was what people expect from police, an Imphal resident said seeing the conduct of the officer.
On Wednesday some student representatives among the demonstrators were guided to meet chief minister N. Biren Singh. However, the students were not satisfied to the chief minister’s statement of taking time in the investigation to the murder case.
Students continued their demonstration on Thursday demanding for speedy investigation.
