Imphal: The 1st Manipur Red Run 2023 marathon was successfully held on Sunday in Imphal, organised by Manipur State AIDS Control Society to improve and increase Comprehensive Knowledge of HIV/AIDS through various activities especially amongst young people.
The marathon was flagged off by Haobam Rosita, lroject director, MACS from the main gate of Manipur University, Canchipur to Manipur College, Imphal.
Yumnam Arjit and Tayengjam Russia of Kamakhya Pemton College bagged the first position in the men and women’s category respectively.
In the men’s category, Kh. Zabed Hussain, Konthoujam Somorjit Singh and Nongmaithem Alex Singh stood 2nd, 3rd and 4th position respectively. In the women’s catergory, T. Sophiya Chanu, Thounaojam Maria Chanu and M. Khalida Mastan stood 2nd, 3rd and 4th position respectively.
Winners received a cash prize of Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 Rs 5,000 respectively along with certificate.
The first two runners of both the category will represent Manipur in the National level Red Run Marathon to be held in October at Goa. The Red Run is a 5 Km marathon race for youth between 17 to 25 years of age.
