Security beefs up ahead of I-Day in Imphal

Imphal: Security has been beefed up in Imphal as preventive measured taken ahead of 77th Independence Day celebration.

A team of police commando, Imphal West has conducted search operation and verification at various areas of district on Sunday.

The commando team conducted search operation at Yaiskul Janmastan from 5.30 am to 7 am. During the operation around 28 houses were searched and 52 individuals were verified. No individual was detained and picked up.

In the evening of the same day the commando team conducted similar search operation and verification of bailouts in the adjoining areas of Keishamthong Hodam Leirak and Keishamthong Longjam Leirak from 3 pm to 4.15 pm. In the police action 50 houses were searched, but no individuals were detained.

The district commando team also conducted similar operation at Thangmeiband Lourung Purel Leikai and Thangmeiband Kabrabam Leikai from 4.35 pm to 5.30 pm on the same day.

During the search operation about 45 houses were searched and verified 80 individuals including two bailouts from different underground outfits. No individuals were detained.
