Imphal: Seven food products produced by internationally displaced people, who are taking shelter at Kalyan Ashram Relief Camp, in Kakching district of Manipur were launched on Thursday.
This was the second time to launch food products produced by inmates of relief camp opened, sheltering displaced people in the Meitei-Kuki clash that began on May 3.
The food products were produced under the name “Leibaklei Foods” were manufactured by the inmates of the relief camp who have received a 3-day training that concluded on Thursday.
The products comprises Umorok Achaar (King Chilli Pickle), Chak hao Chempak Angouba (Fried Flat Rice), Lemon Pickle, Ready to Serve Lemon Juice, Katta Nimkee Salted, Sweet Nimkee and Mango pickle.
Altogether 22 women inmates of the relief camp availed the training.
Highlighting the importance of imparting skills and how it would help the inmates in sustaining their livelihood, SDO , Kakching encouraged the inmates to manufacture more products in future and become self sufficient.
Coordinator of the programme Irom Abesana Devi (MGNF- Kakching) expressed her gratitude to Meira Foods for rendering such valuable service during this trying time and motivated the women inmates to further carry on with the venture and expand their business.
The trainers from the Meira Food Products, Naorem Tombisana and Sandhyarani Huiningsumbam also expressed their heartfelt delight on the successful completion of the programme.
A similar training programme for inmates of Yumbimacha High School Relief Camp, Kakching was also conducted successfully with launching of six food products manufactured by the inmates on August 18.
