Imphal: Women demonstrators of Khonghampat area staged a sit-in rally on Monday demanding the Manipur Legislative Assembly to take a strong decision to save Manipur from drowning.
The rally was conducted by five local groups of the surrounding of Khonghampat under the guidance of Thawai Merel Women’s Wing at a community hall of Khonghampat Mantri Leikai, Imphal West.
Moirangthem Bidyapati, a demonstrator, told reporters that some women folks of Thawai Mirel Women’s Wing has been undergoing fast unto death agitation since August 21.
Supporting the demand of the women wing, all the civil bodies of Manipur should work jointly as an apex body to fight the present turmoil, she added.
She said the Assembly session to be conducted on Tuesday should take a strong decision to save the territorial boundary of Manipur and to bring back normalcy in Manipur.
People are in daze with the multiple agitations by different civil bodies. Which CSOs are we going to support and follow to bring back normalcy in Manipur? She asked.
According to provisional calendar of sitting issued by secretary, Manipur Legislative Assembly, K. Meghajit Singh mentioned that twelfth Assembly- 4th session will be conducted for a day on August 29.
During the sitting three agendas will be placed on the Assembly floor including obituary reference, presentation of committee report(s), if any; and other business, if any.
