Assam drug peddler arrested with Brown Sugar in Manipur

Imphal: Drug peddler from Assam arrested with 30 soap cases of suspected Brown Sugar on Sunday at Mao in Senapati district of Manipur.

The arrested person were identified as Rahul Saikia, 38, son of Khireswar Saikia of Dangdhara Gaon, Assam.

Police said Rahul was arrested by a team of Senapati district police while conducting mobile frisking and checking under War on Drugs near Martyr’s Park around 2 km south of Mao Police station at around 5.30 am.

During the police action one Renault KWID car grey in colour bearing registration number AS03W-9145 was signalled to stop for checking.

On checking, 30 soap cases containing to be suspected brown sugar were found concealed under the front dash board of the car.

The 30 soap cases weighed 346.43 gm (without the weight of the soap case).

The detained driver and the seized items were handed over to Mao Police station for further investigation.

An FIR case under NDPS Act has been registered for further investigation, police said.
