Imphal: Volunteers of Indefinite bandh imposed along NH-2 at Sekmai questioned, “Why does the government not register against Kuki protestors in any criminal act while FIRs are registered against Meitei protestors?
The indefinite bandh along the NH-2 (Imphal-Dimapur) road was imposed demanding for immediate release of 19 arrested persons from Awang Sekmai in connection with arsoning of three trucks at Nongthonband, Sekmai, Imphal West.
A protestor told reporters that the trucks coming to load cooking gas cylinder at Sekmai Bottling Plant were intercepted by some protestors and arsond in Nongthonband, Sekmai area. Following the incident combined security forces arrested 19 locals of the area under the charge of burning down the three trucks on Saturday, she added.
Why the government is not able to take any FIR against Kuki protestors if the government is going to arrest any culprits involved in crimes in the present crisis? She asked. “Law should be equal for all the citizens.”
