CPI Manipur stages protest at Manipur Assembly gate

Imphal: Demanding the reason of not calling Manipur Assembly session during this about 3-month long turmoil in the state Manipur State Council CPI demonstrated protest in front of Manipur State Assembly on Tuesday.

The CPI crew protest demonstration was set out from a nearby community hall located near the Assembly gate. They started the rally from Yumjao Lairembi Community hall, Thangmeiband and headed towards the Lilashing Khongnangkhong traffic island. 

State police personnel tried to stop the rally leading to confrontation between police and the protestors.

The protestors overpowered and the state police and headed towards the traffic island with slogan “we demand immediate assembly session”. The rally headed towards the traffic island raise the slogan in front of Manipur Assembly gate.

The protestor took up placard “open blockade on National highway-2”, “no to ethnic politics”, “ eradicate poppy plantation”, “save Manipur save humanity.”

Secretary of Manipur State Council, CPI, Leishangthem Thoiren Meitei told reporters on the sideline of the protest that the rally was organized showing solidarity on the affected people of Manipur in connection with the present crisis which was resolved during National Council meeting held at Ajay Bhavan, New Delhi on July 14-16.

The solidarity rally was organised across the country.
