The gunfight began at Phougakchao awang leikai and Phougakchao Mamang Leikai at 5: 30 am. It spreaded at Terakhongchangbi area.
It is reported that numbers of bombs were fired from both sides.
Some militants might have injured in the heavy firing, said a source. However, the number of injuries or casualties on the militants side could not be confirmed till the filing of this report.
On Thursday morning at around 5, state force saw some Kuki armed militants coming in two Saktimaan trucks, on seeing the Kuki militants the state forces took position to defend from any attack.
Kuki militants fired several rounds towards the state police and on retaliation, state forces fire several rounds of bombs towards the militants.
It is reported that at least 10 Kuki militants were killed and several were injured during retaliation from state police.
Kuki militants also fired several bombs and RPGs towards state police.
Among the injured, the special police commando and one village defense volunteer has been admitted at Raj Medicity while another two village volunteers have been undergoing treatment at Bishnupur district hospital.
Police said they were injured with splinters.
Meanwhile, another gunfight occurred at Koutruk, Sekmai on Thursday evening at around 6.40. Some Kuki armed militants started firing towards the state forces deputed in the area, state forces also retaliated towards the militants. Till the filing of this report no injury has been reported but the firing continued.
