Imphal: An interactive meeting with the Manipur State Commission for Women with police superintendents of all districts of Manipur was convened on Wednesday to discuss the reasons of low charge sheet of women related cases by police stations.
The meeting was held at the conference hall of the superintendent of police (SP), Imphal West.
The meeting was presided by Dr Binota Meinam, chairperson, Manipur State Commission for Women along with two members of the commission.
During the meeting, the chairperson inquired the police department for a low percentage in charge sheeting women related cases in the state. She inquired about the difficulties area faced by the police department while dealing with a case.
The SPs suggested that Forensic Laboratory, Pangei should be strengthened with infrastructures support with DNA Profiling System for meeting the present needs.
They also suggested increasing the number of women officers for dealing women related cases.
The chairperson expressed that she would request the state government to open Women Police station in the newly created seven districts and for the Tamenglong district.
Prof. Binota appreciated the kind cooperation given by the police department to the commission especially while dealing with cases in the commission.
She strongly appealed to all the SPs to work tirelessly with dedication for the cause of women of the state.
