Imphal: National People’s Party (NPP) is set to contest in more than 30 constituencies out of 60 Assembly constituencies in the upcoming Manipur Assembly elections.
This was said by NPP president Conrad Sangma on Saturday.
Sangma arrived Imphal in connection with organising the party for the upcoming state legislative Assembly Elections which is likely to be held in the first quarter of next year.
NPP will be contesting in the election with no pre-poll alliance’, he told reporters here.
The number of candidates may be increased above 30, said Conrad Sangma who is also the chief minister of Meghalaya.
He said the upcoming election will be one of the important election for the party and NPP is well organised and fully prepared for the upcoming election.
Sangma said NPP is the only political party from north eastern region which is a nationally recognised party because NPP fulfil the criteria of election commission of India.
“The party is very firm on its ideology of creating and giving the platform to the people of north east to ensure that people’s voice and the issues of our regions heard at national level,” Sangma said.
He said in the coming days more people would be joining the party and in the coming election NPP will be an important force in Manipur and the region as a whole,” he added.
Sangma said his party will put priority on issue of unemployment youths, infrastructure development, healthcare, issues in connection with farmers, women and specially to bring development in education.
