Imphal: Tengnoupal battalion under the aegis of IGAR (South) foiled cross border narcotics trafficking in Tengnoupal district on Tuesday.
During a area domination operation, troops of Assam Rifles observed an individual moving in a suspicious manner through the jungles near Saivom village. On seeing the troops approaching, the individual escaped in to the jungle leaving behind two bags, the Assam Rifles said.
On searching the bags, 250 gm of Brown Sugar worth Rs 50 lakh was recovered. The recovered narcotics were handed over to Tengnoupal Police for further investigation, it added.
