Imphal: The chief electoral office Manipur is fully geared up to conduct elections in the state, the chief electoral officer of Manipur Rajesh Agarwal said on Saturday.
Rajesh informed that all the district election officers, electoral registration officers, assistant electoral registration officers, block level officers, state nodal officers for various areas are all working day and night to ensure free and fair election in the state.
In a video clip release on Friday, Rajesh said, “Elections in Manipur are around the corner and we are expecting to conduct the state Assembly Elections in the first quarter of 2022”.
In many states elections are very critical for strong democracy and Manipur has always been in the forefront of conducting free and fair as well as participative elections year after year, Rajesh said.
The CEO said publicity campaign in the form of Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaigns has already been launched in the state. The campaign intends to make the citizens in the state aware about multiple initiative taken up by Election Commission of India to make the whole electoral process a seamless affair and enjoyable, wherein an eligible voter at the comfort of his house using online facility or mobile phone can register oneself as voter, he added.
Once registered, people can get access to every information regarding the polling stations, day of poll, candidates and overall awareness about electoral process online, he said.
“We also expect that we will be able to establish the credibility of the whole electoral system and enthuse confidence in the voters to come out and vote in a big way on the poll day,” the CEO said.
Rajesh stressed on the need to further improve the record turnout of 86 percent in last Assembly Elections to a much higher level so that it set a higher standards not only for the state but also for other states to evaluate.
