Imphal: Imphal West district police on Wednesday seized 305 litres of distilled indigenous country (DIC) liquor and arrested three persons from Khumbong Bazar.
The three persons have been identified as Ningthoujam Suresh Singh, 30, son of late N. Ingocha Singh of Tairenpokpi Awang Leikai; Ningthoujam Khomba Singh, 32, son of N. Awangjao Singh of Tairenpokpi Makha Leikai and Ningthoujam Lorish Singh, 30, son of late N. Gopal of Tairenpokpi Awang Leikai.
Police said at about 10.50 pm of Wednesday on getting an information regarding movement of suspected suppliers of DIC liquor from Tairenpokpi towards Khumbong side in Bolero (four wheeler) white colour vehicle, a team of police under the overall supervision of superintendent of police, Imphal West, S. Ibomcha rushed to the area.
At about 11.05 pm of the same day one suspected Bolero, white in colour bearing registration number MNO1AG-7110 was seen coming from Ngairangbam side towards the IVR, Khumbong Bazar. The police team chased down and stopped the vehicle near the Community Hall of Khumbong Bazar for checking.
During examination of the vehicle 100 Litres of DIC liquor in 100 plastic bottles containing in 10 plastic packets; 30 litres of DIC liquor in 60 half litre plastic bottles containing in three plastic packets; 100 litres of DIC liquor in five polythene packets containing 20 litres each and 75 litres of DIC liquor containing in for polythene packets were detected.
The involved persons were arrested along with the liquor and brought to police station concerned for further formalities and handed over to excise department, police said.
