Imphal: Moreh battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR(S) foiled cross border smuggling of contraband items in Moreh on Monday.
During routine patrolling along the Indo-Myanmar border, the troops observed suspicious movement of individuals on a two-wheeler. On being challenged by the security forces to stop, the suspected individuals abandoned their two- wheeler and escaped in to the jungle.
On checking the area, the troops found a bag containing nearly 2 lakh WY tablets. The cost of the narcotics seized is assessed to be Rs 10 crore, the Assam Rifles said.
The seized narcotics and the foreign-origin motorcycle were handed over to Moreh Police for further necessary legal action.
