Imphal: Sumang Kumhei plays an important role towards shaping public opinion and acts as a tool for creating mass awareness campaigns at the grassroots.
This was stated by chief minister N. Biren Singh at the premier show of Sumang Kumhei “Keidoubagi Kidoino”, a Covid-19 awareness media advocacy campaign held at Iboyaima Sumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound, Imphal East.
The play is produced by Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Manipur under the initiative of the chief minister.
The Sumang Kumhei was streamed-live at DIPR Facebook page and DIPR Youtube channel. It was also telecast in local TVs.
“Such plays would sensitize masses about the Covid-19 disease and the importance of vaccination,” Biren said.
Considering the current situation of Covid-19, the government has taken up various stringent measures to contain the disease, he added.
Biren lauded DIPR, Manipur and those who are associated with the play for producing the play within a short period.
He said free meals are being provided to all the patients who are undergoing treatment at Covid Care Centres and hospitals. Door-to-door Covid-19 testing and mass vaccination drive has started in various parts of the state, he added. He appealed to the people to support the government in the fight against Covid-19.
Minister for information and public relations Th. Biswajit Singh said Covid-19 vaccines are safe and effective, one should not be reluctant to take the jab as vaccines are being developed through a rigorous process and clinical trials and later approved by competent authorities for public use.
