Advocacy meeting on vaccination held

Imphal : An advocacy meeting on Covid-19 vaccination with the religious leaders –Imams, church leaders and temples and representatives of the CSOs functional in Imphal East district was organised by state health society, National Health Mission, Manipur at Panchayat Bhavan, DC office Complex, Imphal East on Wednesday.

Shamim Ahmad Shah, additional deputy commissioner, Imphal East, Dr Jubilee Wahengbam, state nodal officer, RKSK and ASHA, chief medical officer, Imphal East, surveillance officer, IDSP, district nodal officer of vaccination, home isolation and other officers from the government machineries and various religious leaders of different religion and representatives of CSOs functioning in the district participated on the meeting.

Dr T. Manihar Singh, state immunisation officer, Manipur and Dr Dineshwor Singh, deputy director, family welfare, Manipur were the resource persons of the days meeting. The resource persons talked in length about the types of the vaccination applied in India and the state, composition of the vaccination, about the Corona virus- its genetic material, how it replicates inside the body, to whom the vaccination could be done, adverse effect after immunisation etc. The resource persons also talk about the myths and facts of Covid-19 vaccine.

Shamim Ahmad Shah stated that Imphal East has been able to achieve 1.63 lakh number of vaccination against the total of 3.08 lakh number of 18 plus population and everyday more than 25 sessions are being organised at various locations (at least one in every AC) under the AC wise Mass Vaccination Programme of Imphal East which commenced on July 21.

Dr Indira, chief medical officer, Imphal East appealed to all the eligible persons to come out for vaccination and help complete the target of total vaccination.
