Imphal: “Panthougi Liklam”, a Manipuri short film directed by Rakesh Moirangthem and produced by Suraj Khongbantabam has won the Best Short Film in the Short Film Competition on Netaji’s Dreams for India.
The announcement was made on May 18.
Ministry of information and broadcasting, along with National Film Development Corporation organised an online short film competition on the occasion of Parakram Diwas – marking the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
Female actor Tonthoi stars in the film which depicts a martyr’s patriotism by a woman who mourned the loss of her husband during a war.
The film bags the title in the professional category.
The competition went live on January 23 on the MyGov portal.
The competition invited short films of up to 3-minute from citizens of India on the theme of ‘Netaji ke sapne. Udaan India ki!’ – encapsulating Netaji’s dreams for India.
The competition received 1346 responses on MyGov portal, of which there were 297 entries and 51 were found to be eligible for the competition. The competition received participation from every state and every Union territory.
Panthougi Liklam (footprints of the father) is a ‘heart-rending’ depiction on a martyr’s patriotism by a woman who mourned the loss of her husband during a war.
The second prize was bagged by “Netaji” (Hindi) directed by Prashant Dattatray Pandekar.
The film “Netaji” represents the people of pre-Independence India who wanted to build a healthy and prosperous India in the dreams of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. The film portrays the heroism of Netaji as freedom fighter,his determination, his dreams of India and his place in the hearts of Indians. At the same time, it also describes the immense renunciation of the “Azad Hind Sena”.
The best film title carries a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh and the second best film carries a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh.
In the non-professional category, Aakhiri Mulaqaat (A Last Visit) (Hindi) directed by Shourya Narayan and Nihar Shantanu Bhave won the Best Short Film title which carries a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh.
Aakhiri Mulaqaat (A Last Visit) ties together unique union of nationalism and love and respect for the environment. It brings to life the constructive message about both of them being intrinsically tied. Consequently, protecting and preserving the environment becomes an expression of love for your country and vice-versa, underlines the story.
