Imphal: Manipur department of consumer affairs, food and public distribution has revised prices of food items on Monday taking into consideration the ‘prevailing rates’ at the local markets.
The department released the revised rate of wholesale and retail prices of 19 items fixed earlier in respect of markets at Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Bishnupur and Kakching districts under Section 3 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 with immediate effect and until further orders.
The retail rates of the items in respect of Churachandpur and Pherzwal districts will be Re 1 above the rates.
“All shops and establishments who are dealing in wholesale and retail sale of essential commodities as the case may be are to display the wholesale and retail rate of commodities at a permanent place in their places of business or shops, ” the government order said.
The revised wholesales and retail price are indicative and should not be exceeded by both the wholesalers and retailers, it cautioned.
The rates will be revised based on the availability of the food items in the market from time to time, the order said.
