Imphal: Employees of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Manipur have decided to tender mass resignation on Wednesday demanding implementation of 7th Revision of Pay.
The decision was made by a meeting of the joint governing body of Teachers Association (TA), JNIMS Association for All Non-Teaching Staffs (AANTS), JNIMS and the trained Nurses association (TNA), JNIMS held on Tuesday at the hospital conference hall under the chairmanship of associate Prof. H. Apabi Singh, advisor TA, JNIMS
The meeting discussed about the non-implementation of 7th Revision of Pay in JNIMS inspite of the 100 days verbal assurance for implementing it by the chief secretary, the joint governing body said.
It was decided that if any employee of the members of the joint governing body are victimised individually by the authority, all the members will unanimously resolve not to withdraw the mass resignation papers.
It was resolved that no members of the joint committee will withdraw the resignation paper individually.
The teachers’ association had reminded that the joint committee have been demanding implementation of 7th pay for quite a long time, but the demand is not yet materialised. It reminded that the three associations withdrew all forms of agitation following an assurance from the chief secretary on December 18, 2020 to implement the 7th pay in JNIMS within 100 days.
As the assurance was not materialised a meeting on March 25 decided to cancel all academic activities in the institute from March 29 to April 4, 2021, it said adding the three associations jointly sat with the chief secretary on the same day in which the chief secretary assured of putting the issue as one of the Cabinet agenda which was to be held the next day.
It regretted that the matter was not given due consideration by the state Cabinet.
