Imphal: Employees of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Science (JNIMS) under the umbrella of Teachers Association, JNIMS and Trained Nurse Association (TNA), JNIMS have submitted mass resignation to JNIMS authority except for Association for All Non-Teaching Staffs (AANTS) on Thursday intensifying its agitation demanding 7th Revision of Pay.
The representatives of the three associations met chief minister N. Biren Singh on Wednesday. They were told to meet chief secretary and advisor to the chief minister (health).
The representatives met principal secretary (health) along with JNIMS director on Thursday afternoon at his office here. The meeting failed to bring to bring a solution.
The employees of the hospital are under the umbrella of JNIMS society. The employees are not authorised to give similar pay with other state and central employees, says the government, general secretary, TA, JNIMS, Dr S. Bikramaditya told reporters.
During the state Cabinet meeting held on January 20, 2009 with the then chief minister, O Ibobi in the chair decided for regular appointment of the employees with pay-scale similar to Regional Institute of Medical Science. In the state Cabinet the present chief minister N. Biren also attended as former cabinet minister of the state congress government.
The mass resignation could affect the general public but the employees do not have an alternative step in order to fulfil the demands. The employees were not forced to sign their respective resignation letters but the decision for mass resignation was taken unanimously and voluntarily, the secretary said.
The three associations has been demanding to implement 7th Revision of Pay notionally from January, 1, 2016 with effect from April 1, 2019; payment in cash of salary from April 1, 2020. As against the demand the state government told the three associations that the government is ready to revise pay with immediate effect from April 1, 2021.
The hospital has about 250 doctors and over 400 trained nurses. About 500 employees are non-teaching staff.
