Imphal: Employees of Manipur state electricity department, MSPDCL (Manipur State Power Distribution Company Ltd) and MSPCL (Manipur State Power Company Ltd.) have cautioned the state government that power supply in the state would be stopped if the government fails to revise their salary as per 7th Pay Revision of Pay, 2019.
Pressing for the demand the employees staged sit-in rally at MSPCL office in Imphal, on Friday.
Manipur Electricity Employees’ Union president RK Shivachandra said, “We have made repeated pleas to increase pay as per 7th Pay revision. But the state government has ignored the demand.”
The employees do not get regular salary, but only after three months’ gaps, he said.
“Employees will intensify the agitation and would even stop power supply if the government fails to listen to our demand. The pre-paid structure may become defunct as a part of the agitation, he added.
The demonstrators also appealed to the government to provide 13th month salary like the police as they as they are also providing essential service to the public.
