Imphal: All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) urges all communities in Manipur to unite so as to safeguard the state from outsiders’ invasion as it observes its 41st edition of Realisation Day (Meekap Thokpa Numit), here on Saturday.
The function was alunched at Pishum Chingamacha where the AMSU hoisted its flag and paid floral tributes to the two student martyrs—Potshangbam Premananda and Huidrom Lokendro who sacrifice their lives during the “Go Back Foreigner” movement of April 17, 1980.
A mass procession was taken out from Pishum Chingamacha till Manipur College, where a public gathering was held.
A blood donation camp was held at the college.
The Inner Line Permit system implemented in the state does not have any policy to save the indigenous Manipur populace. Manipur people need to be united and save the state from being taken over by outsiders, AMSU president Haobijam Chalamba said.
He said non-locals population in the state is more than the population of the indigenous tribal. The reason for winning elections by some candidates in certain Assembly constituencies is due to the involvement of non-local voters, he added.
It is high time to trail the footsteps of the martyrs who fight in the “Go Back Foreigner” movement and save the state from invasion.
