Imphal: Eleven air passengers in Imphal were confirmed to be Covid-19 positive on Tuesday despite of the Manipur government’s mandate to possess Covid-19 negative report before they board the plane to travel to Manipur.
The Manipur government had also warned airport authorities and airline services against carrying of passengers without negative Covid-19 test report.
On Monday, six air passengers were found positive for Covid-19.
The Manipur government on April 15 issued an order mandating that persons coming from outside the state should produce negative Covid-19 test reports taken 72 hours before arrival in Manipur. The mandatory became effective from April 18.
Directorate of health services cautioned that penalties will be imposed if they fail to strictly comply with the government order.
The 11 positive cases were confirmed when 146 air passengers were tested at Imphal airport. Cumulative number of air passengers at Imphal airport confirmed positive was 80 as on Tuesday.
In the past 24 hours, one 29 years old man from Thoubal district was expired, 94 persons from general population were confirmed as new Covid-19 positive cases.
The positive cases belonged to Imphal East (13), Imphal West (44), Thoubal (3), Bishnupur (9), Kakching (2), Senapati (14), Churachandpur (4), Ukhrul (I), Tengnoupal (2) and Tamenglong (2).
All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the control room said.
Four Covid patients were discharged from home isolation.
The cumulative number of deaths was 378. The cumulative number of positive cases was 29,869 and the number of active cases was 385. The recovery rate dropped to 97.44 percent.
Air passengers who travelled to the State on April 17 by Indigo flight 6E-2615 in rows 3-11, Air Asia flight 15-783 in rows 3-11 and 22-28 and Air India Flight AI-889 in rows 7-13 are to inform the common covid control room 18003453818 or respective district surveillance officers immediately, the control room said.
As per the latest report 11, 0614 persons have been vaccinated against the contagion.
