Imphal: Social welfare minister Okram Henry Singh on Tuesday launched Poshan Pakhwada, 2021at his office chamber and appealed to all the stakeholders to extend full cooperation to the social welfare department for the successful conduct of fortnight long flagship programme.
Poshan Pakhwada, 2021 was launched on March 2018 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for improving nutritional status of children, pregnant women and lactating mothers.
Continuing the thrust on Jan Andolan, this year Poshan Pakhwada will be celebrated during March 16-31.
The key focus areas for PoshanPakhwada 2021 would be addressing nutritional challenges through food forestry comprising of distribution of four saplings of nutrition rich plants per AWC in the aspirational districts, under the supervision of local panchayat and DM/DC by NMPB, MoAYUSH and awareness, sensitization at village panchayat level by National Medicinal Plants Board.
It will also address the nutritional challenge by organising Poshan Panchayat involving members of PRIs for generating awareness on topics like malnutrition prevalence and its consequences, Poshan Vatika, food forestry, identification of SAM/MAM children and its management.
Ministry of women and child development will be the nodal ministry for coordinating activities during the flagship programme. Manipur social welfare department will be the nodal department in the state.
Other line departments like health and family welfare, AYUSH, YAS, RD and PR, forest, agriculture, education, horticulture, CAF and PD, IPR, TA and Hills, MOBC, district administration, etc., are the major stake holders.
Various like activities like Poshan Vatika (tree plantation), kitchen gardening and medicinal plant plantation, Poshan melas, rallies, awareness at schools/panchayats/communities, home visit, webinars etc., will be taken during the fortnight long event.
