Imphal: Kuki Students Organisation has withdrawn the total shutdown which was declared to impose on Friday and Saturday in connection with the state government’s decision to delete Any Kuki Tribes from Scheduled Tribes list.
The proposed shutdown was suspended after talks with government representatives.
Representatives of both KSO and the state government held a meeting at the invitation of the government on Thursday afternoon.
Thanglenmang Simte, general secretary, KSO General Headquarters said KSO reiterated their standpoint that they will never accept any decision to delete Any Kuki Tribes from the Scheduled Tribes list.
The government representatives after acknowledging the genuineness of the demand appealed to put on hold the proposed shutdown until the next Cabinet meeting to be held in a short period, he added
The student body said it would resort to any kind of agitation if the government fails to consider its demand.
